The World Minifootball Federation recently announced that they have decided to cancel the 2022 WMF World Cup in Kyiv. Due to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the situation in Ukraine, the WMF has decided that their best option was to cancel the tournament. This was done so that all parties could shift their focus to their immediate needs and begin to look ahead to the future.
While the 2022 WMF World Cup has been cancelled, the organization has thanked the Mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, along with the Minifootball Federation of Ukraine for their efforts and investments in planning the tournament. While the tournament will not go on as planned, there are hopes to have a chance to return to Kyiv for a future tournament.
The WMF ended their announcement by stating they hope the conflict in Ukraine does not develop any further, and that peace will prevail now and in the future.
While next steps have not been announced at this time, the WMF plans to reveal their plan of action in the near future. To stay up to date on WMF news, visit minifootball.com. We will also be sharing announcements once they become available.
